Why Do I Have Such a Large Fluctuation in Stomach Size?

This concern recently pertained to me from among our Invictus Nutrition training clients and I thought it might be useful for more than just him to see this response..
” So the number on the scale bothers me however you know what bothers me even more? My stomach. Some days Ill catch a glimpse in the mirror at work as Im headed to the urinal. And some days I look pregnant. Then 2 days later on Ill capture a glance out of the side of my eye and it appears like my stomach is getting much flatter. And I understand it is not just in my head. I understand for a fact there is a big change in how my stomach looks depending on the day..
What drives that? I did read where soda can have a really negative effect however I just drink soda with my meal on Saturday night. All other soda is gone. Are there other things that I should be paying attention to?”.

Haha thank you, Buddy. Im thankful you are still looking for growth and knowledge and are gaining from our relationship.
As for your stubborn belly being larger in some cases, that sounds like distention, which is an actual increase in physical stomach size. This is clearly various from bloating, which is simply the experience of gas/pressure in the tummy.
Both of these are connected to sub-optimal digestion/gut health. Sub-optimal food digestion can be related to actually anything– lack of sleep, too expensive work/life tension, too much exercise, consuming foods that disagree with you, and others too.
So to resolve this concern, it honestly appears like you could stay on your current bearing and keep patiently driving towards small improvements with time in each of those categories above (sleep, nutrition, motion, and stress– The Four Pillars!). I ensure that you will continue to improve in abstruse methods. What do you believe?
