Press Corps Is Sick Of Karine Jean Pierre And So They Have Sent Her A Sternly Worded Letter.

You know who I love? Steven Nelson from the NY Post. I love his politeness and his shy manner when he asks tough questions to the Press Sec’y. You can just tell he’s the kind of person who never wants to be a bother. But he’s also really really good at his job.

For example, remember this exchange with Jen Psaki?

That’s one of MANY tense exchanges that Jen and Steven had, and invariably, Steven never got straight answers (because Jen was incapable of providing any), and she was always a complete b*tch to him because she KNEW he was putting her in a position to defend something indefensible.

I love him.

Fast forward to present day. Now we have another heinous person serving as Press Secretary, only this time, it’s even worse, because not ONLY does she not answer direct questions, but she’s not nearly as good as Jen was of being at least ARTFUL about it. Karine Jean Pierre cannot hide her incompetence. Jen was a competent Press Sec’y because she was really good at dodging and lying. Karine is terrible because she dodges and lies really poorly.

It’s an important distinction.

Anyway, the entire press corps is apparently sick and tired of KJP’s sh*t, specifically the fact that there’s this bizarre pre-screening process they have to go through, because this administration is so terrified of them. So they’ve written a letter to Karine to tell her they’ve had enough.

Tonight, 68 White House journalists asked @PressSec to end the mysterious prescreening of reporters let into President Biden’s events, calling it ‘antithetical to the concept of a free press’ https://t.co/X5CN1qBL3m pic.twitter.com/v2SqOoBazQ

— Steven Nelson (@stevennelson10)

In it, they write in part:

The current method of allowing a limited number of reporters into these events is not only

restrictive and antithetical to the concept of a free press, but it has been done without any

transparent process into how reporters are selected to cover these events. We are all left

wondering who is making these decisions and what are the criteria on which they are based?

And also this:

The continued inability of the White House to be candid and transparent about the selection
process for reporters attending his remarks undermines President Biden’s credibility when he
says he is a defender of the First Amendment.

The incongruity of these restrictions underscores the belief by many reporters that the
administration seeks to limit access to the president by anyone outside of the pool, or anyone
who might ask a question the administration doesn’t want to answer.

And let’s be clear – this letter was signed onto by nearly 70 reporters, including those from CNN, CBS, ABC, Salon, and others. It even included the liberal-est of liberals.

I’m amazed it took this long, but more power to ’em. They’re not likely to GET more transparency, but good on ’em for asking.
