Fitness star Kayla Itsines reveals the ‘secret ingredient’ behind her ‘best bruschetta ever’

Fitness star Kayla Itsines has revealed that the “secret ingredient” behind making the “best bruschetta ever” is taramasalata.

The 30-year-old from Adelaide shared exactly how she puts together her ‘to die for’ bruschetta with some Greek dipping sauce, sourdough bread, olive oil, diced cherry tomatoes, basil and some other herbs.

The bruschetta does well for breakfast, lunch or mezze snack – as it is often served in its native Greece.

Taramasalata is a pink paste or dip made from the salted and cured roe of the cod, carp or mullet, mixed with olive oil and spices.

The 30-year-old shared how she puts together her ‘to die for’ bruschetta with the Greek dipping sauce, bread, olive oil, diced cherry tomatoes, basil and a few other herbs (results shown)

‘Strawberry yogurt on toast with tomatoes,’ Kayla continued Instagram.

“Okay kidding – this isn’t yogurt, it’s my secret ingredient to make the best bruschetta ever. Here’s how to recreate my Kayla special.”

To make Kayla’s bruschetta, the 30-year-old said you need two slices of bread of your choice, toasted.

Then add a ‘splash of olive oil’ and spread a generous helping of taramasalata on the bread, before placing it on a ‘handful of diced cherry tomatoes’.

Garnish with chopped basil and herbs of your choice and finish with a pinch of salt and pepper to taste, Kayla wrote.

“I promise you this is to die for, if you only have the secret ingredient.”

How to Make Kayla Itsines’ Best Bruschetta Ever

Two slices of bread of your choice, toasted

Extra virgin olive oil

1. Toast the slices of bread of your choice.

2. Add a splash of olive oil and spread a generous portion of taramasalata over both pieces of toast.

3. Layer on a handful of diced cherry tomatoes.

4. Garnish with finely chopped basil, the herbs of your choice and some salt and pepper.

Thousands of commentators who saw Kayla’s easy recipe were impressed and said they couldn’t wait to try it for themselves.

“Yum, this looks so good,” one commenter wrote.

The mother of one, who shares two-year-old daughter Arna Leia with her ex-fiancé Tobi Pearce, added that she has been “obsessed” with the traditional rice pudding chicken congee in Asian countries since she first tried it in Dubai in 2017

This isn’t the first time one of Kayla’s meals has wowed her followers online.

She previously shared that one of her other favorite breakfast dishes is chicken congee.

The mother of one, who shares two-year-old daughter Arna Leia with her ex-fiancé Tobi Pearce, added that she has been “obsessed” with the rice pudding traditional in Asian countries since she first tried it in Dubai in 2017.

“I always eat savory food first thing in the morning and chicken congee has to be one of my favorites!” wrote Kayla.

She said she gets “so excited” when she sees congee on a menu in Australia and always orders it when she travels through Asia.

Kayla said her favorite flavor is rice, seasoned with ginger, garlic, green onion, sesame oil, shallots, and soy sauce, adding, “It really is SO good.”
